Ok, so Relief Society via the stake is supporting a cookie-making effort for prisoners in our region.
I am not sure how I feel about the effort.
I am making several dozen in support of the cause eventhough I feel a bit torn.
Someone in the ward (male, of course) asked if we were bringing cookies to the victims of prisoners serving time in prison...Hmm...Good question!
I have had some time for refection and I really feel as King Benjamin did...When we are in the service of our fellow beings (in whatever capacity and any station) we are only in the service of our God.
I am thankful for the opportunity to reflect on my feelings about giving when I am not sure what they are using the money for....and giving cookies to prisoners that I have no idea the crime...
Hey. That cookied looks really good! Mike and I had the chance to visit the Utah State Prison recently. I was a bit nervous. We were going to be in close quaters with the inmates for two hours. (Mike did a presentation on how to record a CD) I was so suprised at the feelings I felt there. I've never met more appreciative people. Some were moved to tears out of gratitude. I had never felt such a sweet example of Christ Atonment. I felt so much love there. It was very unexpected. I felt that these men were using the atonment in it's fullnes and trying to be better people. I felt a strong sense of Christ's love for them as well. I am so glad we went and I know your service will be much appreciated.
